Privacy Policy

Last updated: August 1, 2026

Daily Bread ("we", "us") provides envelope-budgeting software at dailybreadmoney.com and through our iOS app. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have. The short version: your financial data is yours — we use it only to run the product for you, and we never sell it.

Information we collect

  • Account information: your email address, name (optional), and a hashed password managed by our authentication provider, Supabase.
  • Financial data you connect: account balances and transactions synced through SimpleFIN after you explicitly link a bank, or imported from statement files you upload (CSV/OFX/QFX/QBO). If you connected a bank before July 2026, you may also have historical transactions from Teller, our previous bank-data provider; those connections no longer sync but the data already collected is retained. We never see or store your bank username or password — bank credentials are handled entirely by our bank-data providers (SimpleFIN, or previously Teller).
  • Amazon order details (optional): if you install our browser userscript, it sends your Amazon charges and order items from your own browser session to your Daily Bread account so purchases can be itemized. This is entirely opt-in.
  • Payment information: subscriptions are processed by Stripe (on the web) or by Apple (for purchases made in our iOS app). We store only subscription status and period metadata — never card numbers.

How we use your data

  • To provide budgeting features: syncing, categorizing, and displaying your transactions.
  • If you use the optional Amazon integration, the item titles from your Amazon orders are sent to Anthropic's Claude API to suggest a budget category for them. No other transaction data is sent to any AI provider. Per Anthropic's commercial terms, this data is not used to train their models.
  • To operate your subscription, send service emails, and respond to support requests.

What we don't do

  • We do not sell or rent your personal or financial data.
  • We do not use your data for advertising or cross-app tracking.

Storage and security

Data is stored with Supabase (PostgreSQL) in the United States. Bank-provider access tokens are encrypted at rest. All traffic uses TLS. Access to production data is limited to the operator of the service.

Data retention and deletion

Your data is retained while your account exists. You can delete your account — and all associated data — at any time from Settings in the web app or the iOS app. Deletion is immediate and irreversible.

Household sharing

If you invite a household member, they see the budget data of the household owner. Removing a member revokes that access.

Your choices

  • Disconnect a bank connection at any time in Settings.
  • Skip the Amazon userscript entirely — it is optional.
  • Export-free deletion: deleting your account removes your data from our systems.
